Position Summary:
The Project Estimator plays a critical role in the evaluation, development, and pricing of Retroflex equipment. This position is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and data-driven cost estimates for both standard and custom-designed flexographic and gravure printing and coating equipment.  Working closely with Engineering, Procurement, and Sales, the Project Estimator ensures all estimates reflect technical requirements, manufacturability, and company objectives while maintaining competitiveness in a global marketplace. This role ensures pricing integrity while supporting engineering feasibility, procurement alignment, and sales competitiveness. This role is essential in translating customer needs into viable, cost-effective machine solutions.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop detailed cost estimates for flexographic presses, gravure systems, coating equipment, unwinders, rewinders, and related machinery.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to determine material, labor, and subcontractor costs.
  • Maintain and update pricing models, cost databases, and estimating tools.
  • Ensure estimates reflect current market pricing for raw materials, components, and fabrication processes.
  • Partner with engineering to understand design complexity, manufacturability, and technical constraints.
  • Work with procurement to validate supplier pricing, lead times, and availability of components. 
  • Coordinate with sales to align estimates with customer expectations and project scope. 
  • Analyze historical project data to improve estimating accuracy and consistency.
  • Contribute to the development of standardized estimating tools, templates, and workflows.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in estimating, manufacturing, or industrial equipment design. 
  • Experience with flexographic printing, gravure coating, or converting equipment strongly preferred. 
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, fabrication, and manufacturing processes. 
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, Excel, and cost estimation tools. 
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Travel to meet with clients or potential clients may be required on occasion.
